The Mexican Government aware of the key role of Civil Society Organizations and Youth, for the first time, its launched in the framework of a COP on Biodiversity a forum in which they will exchange experiences in achieving the aims of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 –including the Aichi targets–, as well as to identify its contribution to the Biodiversity Mainstreaming in -and among- sectorial plans, programs and policies, focusing in: agriculture, forestry, fisheries, tourism and urban topics.

Objectives

  • To generate a space for the participation, capacity-building and strengthening of civil society and youth to follow-up the implementation of the CBD.
  • To identify the practices, experiences and strengths for mainstreaming biodiversity in the selected sectors.
  • To promote alliances of Civil Society Organizations and Youth in actions that contribute to achieving the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 including Aichi Targets and the interaction with the SDGs.
  • To generate a statement of Civil Society Organizations and Youth

We are looking for successful cases

If you represent a group legally constituted under any legal entity (civil association, private assistance institution, institution of private charity, civil society, an association of private charity, foundation or other), which does not pursue personal but community social benefits and has developed actions mainstreaming biodiversity in agriculture, forestry, fishing, tourism and / or urban sector:

Towards the civic construction

In preparation to the Forum Civil Society and Youth Alliances for Mainstreaming Biodiversity to Wellbeing they have been carried out regional workshops to disseminate among participants information about the the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 –including the Aichi targets–, Biodiversity Mainstreaming and other topics to be addressed at COP 13.
