Espiritu Santo Archipielago National Park

The land portion of the Archipelago is part of the Protected Area “Islands of the Gulf of California”, which includes more than 900 islands and islets, which account for approximately 50% of the national island territory; while the surrounding sea area includes the National Park, established on May 10, 2007.

This park is visited by a growing number of users, mainly tourists, who practice different activities such as kayaking, hiking, scuba diving, sport fishing, boating activities and camping.

The archipelago also preserves important archaeological remains of the indigenous group Pericú and remains of the old pearling activity initiated by Manuel de Ocio and increased by Gaston Vives.

In its marine portion can be seen, more than 50 species of water birds rest or nest in the archipelago, and at least 15 species of marine mammals.

One of these species is the California sea lion, which has a breeding colony of approximately 300 individuals in islets north of the archipelago.
